The International Olympic Committee recognises the International Federation of Basque Pelota as the worldwide governing body for Basque pelota. It establishes the rules for international competitions and organises them. On May 19, 1929, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the International Federation of Basque Pelota was founded by the French Federation of Basque Pelota, the Spanish Federation of Basque Pelota, and the Argentine Federation of Basque Pelota.
The International Handball Federation (IHF) administers handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for organising the major international handball tournaments, including the 1938-established IHF World Men's Handball Championship and the 1957-established IHF World Women's Handball Championship.

The International Basketball Federation is a confederation of national basketball governing bodies that governs basketball worldwide. Originally known as the Fédération internationale de basket-ball amateur (hence FIBA), the organisation dropped the word "amateur" in 1989 but kept the acronym.
